Buying An Existing Home

Buying an existing home offers many benefits for many home buyers. Typically the landscaping is complete, the home has window coverings and ceiling fans, and the neighborhood is more established. However, note that there are other important areas you need to investigate before you invest in an existing home.

Older homes may be less energy efficient which adds to the cost of paying for the home.  In many cases, existing homes have HVAC systems that were installed when the home was built.  Purchasing a home with a worn-out heating and cooling system can add to the costs of your new home.

Be sure to evaluate current roof condition and look for water leaks.  Mold and mildew remediation can run into a costly repair bill.
