House Hunting Strategies

There are a number of strategies that can be employed in finding a new home depending on how quickly you need to find a home.  If you are moving to a new city, in which you do not know the area, you may choose to find a real estate professional to help you find an area in which to move.

The essence of a good house search is getting to know the area.  If you already know the area in which you would like to buy a home, spend some time in the area.  Walk the neighborhoods in the evening, stop and speak with the neighbors that you find outside, ask them about the neighborhood.  Tell them you are shopping for a home in the area and ask them about the area.

Drive through the neighborhoods and write down phone numbers and house addresses with "For Sale" signs.  Photograph the houses that you like and keep a log of the houses with the data you collect.
